Judith Meyers (Colorado)

Judith Meyers got her main inspiration for papercutting from the German tradition of the art form, called “Scherenschnitte.” Judith created three-dimensional papercut pieces for which she uses two or occasionally three sheets of paper. The pieces took the form of hanging ornaments or “trees.” The artist designed and hand cut original pieces that become patterns. These were used by a skilled laser cutter in Montana to produce small quantities of the trees and ornaments shown here at Handcrafted Art Traditions. Judith passed away in 2016.
