Mary Maynard (Wyoming)

In her book Tatting Rings of Flowers, Mary Maynard explained the basic process of this form of lace making: “Tatting is basically a square knot worked exactly the same way each knot is tied. It is essentially a half hitch one way and then a half hitch tied the opposite way.” Mary made occasion greeting cards embellished with “tatted rings of flowers” that she has “doodled into existence.” She also made crocheted and tatted snowflake and angel ornaments following many, many designs. Mary’s most complex ornaments are her multicolored tatted Celtic Stars that have different patterns on the center sections of their two sides.

Mary passed away in 2015, leaving family, friends, students, and customers who were greatly enriched by knowing her.
