Rita Flores de Wallace (Colorado)

Rita Flores de Wallace has been immersed in the traditional arts of rural Mexico from the time she was born in Saltillo, Mexico. She learned doll making, weaving, embroidery, and other traditional arts from her mother, aunts, and grandmothers, as well as from nuns and from instructors at the Instituto Regional de Belles Arts in Saltillo, Mexico. Marriage to John Wallace led to Rita’s move to Denver, where she teaches and produces original textile and paper arts based on the Mexican traditions she loves.
