Sandy Yamasaki (Hawaii)

Sandy Yamasaki uses lauhala (leaves of the hala tree) grown on the Big Island of Hawaii to weave bracelets that feature lovely natural colors and textures. To make a bracelet, Sandy first forms a circle of the fiber to provide support. She then cuts thin strips of the fiber and begins to weave using either a plain weave pattern or a more intricate design. The bracelets allow anyone anywhere to wear a lovely reminder of Hawaii’s natural beauty.
