Antler Wall Pocket Basket
Barbara Mincer, who recently moved from the plains of Wyoming to the Colorado mountains, designed her wall basket around a small antler from a white tailed deer. Deer and other ungulates shed their antlers annually then grow a new set the next year. Barbara takes great care in finding sustainable materials for her baskets. The round and flat reed she used is from Indonesia, where the palm tree from which it comes grows two or three feet a day. The artist added the final decorative touch to this basket by creating a lovely felted and sheared ball of naturally colored wool fleece. The basket is 16 ½ in high, 12 in wide, and 10 in deep. It will hold a dried flower bouquet or other arrangement. It will also make quite a statement on its own.
