Handwoven Rug or Wall Hanging Saddle Blanket Style Rug #132—Split Diamond Design
Handweaver Linda Morton-Keithley of Idaho wove this rug on her 2-shaft upright tapestry loom using a tapestry inlay technique. Linda also makes saddle blankets (that go with her husband’s handmade saddles), and many of her rugs have a Western look. With its stripes and its split diamond central shape, this is one of those!
The handwoven rug is made of 100% Navajo-Churro wool from Idaho and New Mexico. The light gray color is undyed—exactly as it came from the sheep, and the light and dark dusty green colors are dyed with hollyhock blossoms.
Linda is known for her clean selvage edges and for the braided ends of her rugs. Because of its tabby weave structure, this rug is lighter weight than some of Linda’s other handwoven rugs. It measures 25 in x 36 in and will need a rug pad underneath to prevent slippage. It will also look really great as a wall hanging.
