Washi Paper Desktop Photo Frames
Kyoko Niikuni, a Seattle-area artist, constructs these desktop photo frames entirely by hand. She covers them with chiyogami, a type of handmade washi paper that has been printed with decorative patterns, some originating during the Edo period in Japan. The artist regularly travels to Japan and buys her chiyogami paper either in Tokyo or in the Nagano or Yamanashi Prefectures. Each of the photo frames opens to display two 3 ½ in. x 5 in. prints. The outer dimensions are 6 ¼ in. x 4 ¾ in. Two of the albums are designed for vertical photos and one for horizontal photos.
